Naomi Achu (parfois appelée «la Reine de Bamenda»[1]) est une rappeuse, chanteuse et compositrice originaire de Bamenda au Cameroun. Elle chante en anglais et en français puis elle mixe avec son dialecte pour faire de son international[2]. Naomi est surtout connue pour sa chanson Alhadji, qui a été jouée dans la 8e saison de Big Brother Afrique[3],[2].
Biographie
[modifier | modifier le code]Originaire de Bamenda, chef lieu de la Région du Nord-Ouest, elle est née Fruh-Ngwing Achu dans une famille de huit personnes; elle est la dernière des six enfants. Son père était diplomate à l'ambassade du Cameroun à Londres et sa mère enseignait aux enfants des écoles primaires et secondaires. Ses parents sont actuellement à la retraite.
Naomi a écrit sa première chanson Smile quand elle avait neuf ans[4]. Elle a fréquenté le Saker Baptist College pour les filles à Limbé et le Baptist High School de Buéa (tous les deux sont dans la région du sud-ouest du Cameroun), où elle a eu ses premières chances de chanter.
