Simon Phillip Cowell (; born 7 October 1959) is an English television personality, entrepreneur, and record executive. He has judged on the British television talent competition shows Pop Idol (2001–2003), The X Factor UK (2004–2010, 2014–2018), and Britain's Got Talent (2007–present), as well as the American television talent competition shows American Idol (2002–2010), The X Factor US (2011–2013), and America's Got Talent (2016–present). Cowell founded the British entertainment company Syco in 2005, as well as its defunct predecessor, Syco Music (also known as S Records) in 2002.
After some success in the 1980s and 1990s as a record producer, talent agent and consultant in the UK music industry, Cowell came to public prominence in 2001 as a judge on Pop Idol, a talent television show which he and its creator Simon Fuller

THE EARLY YEARS
Simon Philip Cowell was born to Eric and Julie Cowell on 7th October 1959. Simon has a younger brother Nicholas and four half siblings. Michael and Tony from his Mother's first marriage, with John and June from his Father's.
He had by his own admission, a privileged upbringing in the leafy suburbs of Hertforshire. His home was in Elstree, which was also famous for its film and television studio, where Simon grew up alongside some illustrious neighbours from the film world.
Simon’s school days were spent at a boarding school in Dover, which he never liked and rebelled against. He even sent a letter home to his parents trying to make them feel guilty for sending him there. He was at one time suspended and left school as soon as he could at sixteen.

Simon Cowell is the A&R executive for Syco in the United Kingdom and the son of estate agent and music industry executive Eric Cowell Sr. and socialite Julie Brett. He was born in Lambeth, London and raised in Elstree, Hertfordshire. He is well known as a judge on television programmesPop Idol, The X Factor, American Idol and Britain's Got Talent.[1] On these shows, Simon Cowell is known for saying that most of the contestants on the shows are not talented. He is known for joining activities in the television and music industries, having made singles and records for many television characters.
Although Simon Cowell says he has not voted in elections, he supported the Conservative Party in 2010.[2] He is of Jewish heritage (his paternal grandmother was Polish-Jewish).[3]
