Ryan Vogelsong
Ryan Vogelsong, former Kutztown University pitcher and two-time MLB World Series Champion, devoted his time and talent to help the baseball team reach their goals in 1996-98 seasons.
During Vogelsong's triumphant career at KU, he broke nine school records, including earned runs average in a season and career, wins in a season and career, strikeouts in a season and career, innings pitched in a season and career, and complete games in a season. Vogelsong helped his team earn the PSAC Eastern Division Title, All-PSAC East honors and a NCAA Division II leading 1.41 earned run average. As if that was not enough, he won All-American, North Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Year, PSAC East Player of the year, first team All-Region and All-PSAC East and the KU Male Athlete of the Year. To wrap up his career at KU, he was awarded top five all time with 73 runs batted in and in 2000 was named one of KU's top male athletes of the 1990's along with KU's top 30 Athletes of the 20th Century.

Former Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants right-handed pitcher Ryan Vogelsong’s road to success wasn’t an easy one. Vogelsong faced many roadblocks to get to the Majors, and to stay there. He jumped through many hoops just to prove he could be an effective starter at the game’s highest level. However, once he got there, he proved he belonged there.
Ryan Vogelsong was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 5th round of the 1998 draft. Coming up through the Giants farm system, he was never a top prospect. However, he consistently put up solid numbers throughout the minors. His highest ERA before the 2000 season, his debut season, was just 3.86, while his highest WHIP was 1.21.
