BRIAN ENO - A BIOGRAPHY
Brian Peter George St. John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno (born Brian Peter George Eno on May 15, 1948 in Woodbridge, Suffolk) is an English electronic musician, music theorist and record producer. As a solo artist, he is probably best known as the father of ambient music.
Eno was educated at the St. Joseph's College, Birkfield, Ipswich (where he adopted the names Jean-Baptiste de la Salle as the school was run by that order of Catholic brethren), Ipswich Art School and the Winchester School of Art, graduating from the latter in 1969. Brian Peter George Eno (, born 15 May 1948), also mononymously known as Eno, is an English musician, songwriter, record producer and visual artist. He is best known for his pioneering contributions to ambient music and electronica, and for producing, recording, and writing works in rock and pop music.[1] A self-described "non-musician", Eno has helped introduce unconventional concepts and approaches to contemporary music.[1][2] He has been described as one of popular music's most influential and innovative figures.[1][3] In 2019, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Roxy Music.[4]
Born in Suffolk, Eno studied painting and experimental music at the art school of Ipswich Civic College in the mid-1960s, and then at Winchester School of Art. He joined the glam rock group Roxy Music as its synthesiser player in 1971 and recorded two albums with them before departing in 1
