Reinhard Heydrich

Reinhard Tristan Eugen Heydrich (born ; 7 March 1904 ; Halle an der Salle,Prussia, Germany- died ; 4 June 1942 ; Prague,Nazi-German Occupied Czechoslovakia). He was a high-ranking German NaziSS-Gestapo officer before and during World War 2.

Heydrich was an officer in the German Navy of the Reichswehr from 1922 to 1931 when he was expelled. He later became the most and feared Nazi officer in the SSParamilitary and the GestapoSecret Police in Germany.

Like other members of the SS, Reinhard Heydrich wore black from 1933-1939, grey from 1938-1942 and feldgrau (gray-green from 1941-1942. He also wore blue in the Wehrmacht’sLuftwaffe Air Force from 1935-1941.

His enemies in Czechoslovakia gave him various nicknames: (The Hangman, The Butcher of Prague, The Blond Beast, Himmler's Evil Genius, Young Evil God Of Death). Adolf Hitler called him "The Man With The Iron Heart".

Born in the German city of Halle, near Leipzig on March 7, 1904, Reinhard Eugen Tristan Heydrich was raised in a cultured, musical environment. His father founded the Halle Conservatory of Music and was a Wagnerian opera singer, while his mother was an accomplished pianist. Young Heydrich trained seriously as a violinist, developing expert skill and a lifelong passion for the violin.

As a boy, he lived in an elegant home with his family enjoying elevated social status. But young Heydrich also suffered as the target of schoolyard bullies, teased about his very high pitched voice and his devout Catholicism in the mostly Protestant town. He was also beaten up by bigger boys and tormented with anti-Jewish slurs amid rumors of Jewish ancestry in his family.

At home Heydrich's mother believed in the value of harsh discipline and frequent lashings. As a result, Heydrich was a withdrawn, sullen boy, unhappy, but also intensely self-driven to excel at everything.
