Who Is Rebel Wilson?

Rebel Wilson was born on March 2, 1980, in Sydney, Australia. Her career began with hilarious performances onstage and on television in Australia. She broke out in the United States with the 2011 blockbuster Bridesmaids as Kristen Wiig's roommate. Portraying boisterous singing coed Fat Amy in the Pitch Perfect films made her an even bigger star, leading to a gig hosting the 2013 MTV Music Awards and a lead role in a short-lived 2013 television series Super Fun Night. Wilson later starred in films like Isn't It Romantic, The Hustle and Cats.

Rebel Wilson is an Australian comedian, actress and writer. She was born in Sydney, Ausralia and has three other siblings named Liberty, Ryot and Annachi. Her parents were professional dog showers. While she lived in South Africa for a year as a Rotary International Youth Ambassador for Australia, she contracted malaria. Wilson experienced hallucinations in which she saw herself as an Oscar winner. This event led her to pursue an acting career.

Wilson has appeared with the Sydney Theater Company and also performed at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. She acted in some Australian shows before appearing in movies like Fat Pizza and Ghost Rider. After moving from Australia to the United States, Wilson appeared in the Judd Apatow comedy Bridesmaids. She's also appeared on shows like Workaholics and Rules of Engagement.

In 2011, she appeared in What to Expect When You're Expecting and was named one of the "Top 10 Comics to Watch in 2011" by Variety magazine.

Rebel is perhaps most known internationally for playing the role of 'Fat Amy' in the Pitch Perfect trilogy, which are the highest-grossing musical comedy films of all time. Rebel's other feature credits include the Academy Award-winning Jojo Rabbit, Isn't It Romantic, How To Be Single, and The Hustle. In 2022 she starred in the hit cheer leading comedy Senior Year on Netflix which was watched by over 89 million unique Netflix accounts in its first ten days of release internationally.
