John Biggie
John Biggie disembarked from this world on March 4, 2023, he was 68 years old.
John’s brother, Peter, preceded him in death decades ago, and, as a result, John vowed to live his life to the fullest; he accomplished that goal in remarkable style.
Born in Erie, John traveled often, living in California, Hawaii, and Florida. In Miami, alongside his friend Abby Hoffman, he marched and protested Nixon and the Vietnam War in the early 70s.
John enjoyed a good single malt and smoking cigarettes. His aplomb with a Newport 100 was legendary. He could hold a long ash on a cigarette, held gingerly between his lips, for what seemed like hours. He loved dancing, reviewing local and national music talent, especially live music.
John returned to college in his late 20s and earned a degree in communications.
In Erie, John hosted a radio program on Gannon’s WERG, where he interviewed local musicians, artists, and politicians. He played an eclectic selection of rock ‘n roll music for his many devoted fans.

You cannot talk about hip-hop and rap without mentioning the most notorious of them all, Biggie Smalls aka The Notorious B.I.G.
Christopher Wallace was born May 21, 1972 to Jamaican emigrant parents. He lived at 226 Saint James Place in Bedford-Stuyvesant. He was abandoned by his father at only two years old. His mother, Voletta, worked two jobs to support themselves. Christopher was raised Catholic and was sent to parochial school as a child.
Wallace excelled at multiple subjects while attending Queen of All Saints Middle School.

Earning the name ‘Big’ for his large stature from peers, the name stuck. Following Christopher’s transfer to Career and Technical Information High School his mother noticed a change in Biggie Smalls aka the Notorious B.I.G’s attitude.
