After representing her country three times in the Olympics, Greysia Polii made history in Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where together with her badminton women’s doubles partner Apriyani Rahayu she gave Indonesia its first Olympic gold in the event.
Polii has played for Indonesia in various international badminton tournaments since the early 2000s. At 14, she made the decision to switch from singles to doubles, eventually joining the national team in 2003.
Throughout her career, Polii has been paired with many other distinguished female badminton players, including Meiliana Jauhari, whom she played alongside during her London Olympics debut in 2012, and Nitya Krishinda Maheswari, who joined her at her second Olympic outing in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
Rahayu and Polii were first paired together in 2017. Prior to their historic Olympic win against China, the duo had also shared dozens of podium finishes, from the South-East Asian Games in 2017 to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Grand Prix title match the same year, as well as the World Tour series from 2018-2020.

Greysia Polii (born August 11, 1987) is a former Indonesian badminton player in women's doubles.
Greysia Polii was born in Jakarta to a Minahasa-blooded couple, Willy Polii and Evie Pakasi. She is the
third of five children. She lived in Jakarta until her father passed away when she was 2 years old. Greysia
then moved to Manado, where she spent her childhood. She became interested in playing badminton
due to the influence of her brother, and also from former Indonesian national badminton athlete
Deyana Lomban. Her badminton talent began to emerge when she was six years old. In 1995, she and
her mother moved to Jakarta to get better training and opportunities to play badminton. She then
joined the Jaya Raya Jakarta badminton club. She idolized Susi Susanti and Zhang Ning.
While she was a member of the club, Retno Koestijah realized that the then 14-year-old Greysia had the
talent to become a doubles athlete. Retno moved Greysia from singles to doubles. The decision yielded
good results until Greysia joined the national badminton team in 2003. Gre

Greysia Polii (Indonesian pronunciation:[ˈgrɛjsi̯apoˈliʔi]; born 11 August 1987) is an Indonesian badminton player specializing in doubles.[1] She won gold medals in the women's doubles at the 2014 Asian Games, at the 2019 SEA Games and at the 2020 Summer Olympics.[3][4][5] She also won three bronze medals at the World Championships in 2015, 2018, and 2019.[6][7] Polii is a member of BWF Athletes' Commission to represent the needs and views of athletes to the BWF council and committees from 2013 to 2017 and 2021 to 2025.[8][9][10]
