Abdul-Malik Kashie Yoba (born September 17, 1967) is an American actor. He is known for his starring role as NYPD Detective J. C. Williams on the Fox police drama New York Undercover and as Yul Brenner in the film Cool Runnings. He appeared as former FBI agent Bill Harken on the Syfy drama series Alphas, as Jim Hudson in Revolution, and as Vernon Turner in Empire. He also starred in the role of FBI Deputy Director Jason Atwood in the ABC political drama Designated Survivor.^[1] In 2018, he joined the Netflix drama Seven Seconds as a member of a support group for parents who had lost their children. He also appeared in Jordan Peele’s TBS comedy The Last OG with Tracy Morgan.

Malik Yoba was an accomplished talent and community activist before being cast in the Fox network television drama New York Undercover in 1994, a show with the noteworthy distinction of being the first primetime network television drama to feature two actors of color. Set in Yoba’s hometown of New York City, its plots usually engage his character, the New York City Police Department detective J. C. Williams, in crime solving activities with his partner Eddie Torres, played by Michael DeLorenzo, along the rough streets of their Harlem beat. With his shaved head, the tall husky, Yoba made a strong impression as J.C. Williams, the caring, level-headed cop who puts duty before his private life in "New York Undercover" (Fox, 1994-98). Yoba began his career as a member of CityKids, an organization that fosters cultural pluralism and youth empowerment. He made his singing debut with the group at Carnegie Hall in 1991 and the following year he composed the theme and additional songs for an ABC Saturday morning series called "CityKids," produced by Henson Productions. Yoba moved in front of the cameras and displayed his facility with accents when he was cast as "Yul Brenner," one of the Jamaican bobsledders under the tutelage of John Candy in "Cool Runnings" (1993). Other feature work has included portraying a neighborhood figure known only as The Creeper in "Smoke" and its sequel, "Blue in the Face" (both 1995).
