Dsquared2 – marka odzieży wykreowana przez braci bliźniaków Deana i Dana Catenów^[1].

Bracia urodzili się w 1964 w Toronto. W 1983 przeprowadzili się do Nowego Jorku, gdzie w Parsons The New School for Design studiowali jeden semestr. Następnie wrócili do Kanady i w roku 1986 jako DEanDAN zaprezentowali swoją pierwszą kolekcję damską. W 1988 zostali zatrudnieni w Ports International^[2] (obecnie Ports 1961). W 1991 przeprowadzili się do Mediolanu. Pracowali jako projektanci dla Gianniego Versacego i Diesla, który wypromował ich własną markę. Dean and Dan, is it true that you only wear clothes that you have designed yourself?

Dan: Yes. It helps you understand it. We don’t really get enough feedback. We have one amazing fitting guy who tells us everything, but certain details… We’ll wear things all the time and think, “Why am I wearing that? What do I like about this?” There are little qualities about each garment.

Dean: Maybe it’s a weight thing, maybe it’s the wash, whatever.

Dan: It’s all information. So it’s like information lost if you don’t get to feel it.

How does that work with your women’s collection for DSquared?

Dean: We try it all on. (Laughs) I’m a 42.

Canadian twin brothers from Willowdale Ontario, Dean and Dan Caten have operated in the International fashion business since 1984. They moved to New York City in 1983 to attend the Parsons School for Design, and then went on to Italy in 1991. Their new life in Italy resulted in several collaborations with fashion forward brands, and they soon went on to produce their own premiere menâs fashion show, marking the first in a long succession of runway shows that captured the attention of journalists and buyers with their combination of fashion, music and theater.
