Early life and education

Levy was born in Cojimar, Cuba. His maternal grandfather was Jewish (the origin of his surname, Levy), although he grew up in a non-religious household. He was raised by his single mother, Barbara Levy. His family, including his brother Jonathan Gutierrez Levy and sister Barbara Gutierrez Levy, emigrated to Miami, Florida when he was 14. William Levy was born on August 29, 1980, in Cojimar, Cuba. He left Cuba at the age of 14, moving to Miami by 15, and later became a naturalized citizen of the U.S. He currently resides between Mexico City and Miami, FL As an avid baseball fan when he was younger, he had dreams of playing major league baseball, but very soon had the opportunity to act and model, a career which has allowed him to travel to other countries to participate in runway shows and photo shoots. He studied acting in both Miami and L.A., where he moved to begin his acting career. From the age of 22, this "hot, hot, hot cuban hunk", as he was called in the gossip news when he was on "Dancing With The Stars", began doing bit parts in Miami, for UnivisiÃ³n. Repeatedly named one of the sexiest men on television by the Spanish-language media, actor-model William Levy made women swoon - both in Latin American countries and in America - as the star of several popular telenovelas. Born William Levy Gutiérrez on Aug. 29, 1980 in the small fishing village of Cojimar, east of Havana, Cuba, he immigrated to Miami, FL at the age of 15. After learning to speak English while attending high school and college, Levy relocated to both Los Angeles and Mexico City in order to pursue a career as an actor and model. Levy soon appeared on the Spanish-language reality series "Protagonistas de Novela 2" (Telemundo, 2003), where he met actress Elizabeth Gutiérrez. Although the couple gave birth to a son and daughter, they did not marry and five years later announced their separation. In the meantime, things picked up on the professional front for Levy, who after signing to the prestigious Next Models Agency, began landing work on such Spanish language melodr
