Patricia Woertz is chairman and CEO of Archer Daniels Midland (ADM). She was appointed to the position in May 2006 and is the eighth CEO in the company's 100-plus-year history.[1] She also held the title of president until handing it to ADM's chief operating officer Juan Luciano in February 2014.[2]
On January 1, 2015 Woertz will step down as CEO and be replaced by Luciano. Woertz will remain chairman but is expected to retire in May 2016.[3]
Background
Before joining ADM, Woertz served as executive vice president of Chevron Corporation, one of the largest energy companies in the world. There she led the company's refining, marketing, lubricant, supply and trading business with more than $100 billion in revenues.
Born in 1953, she graduated from Penn State University in 1974 and began her career with Ernst & Young in Pittsburgh as a certified public accountant.& Ms. Woertz is the former Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Archer Daniels Midland Company (“ADM”) (agricultural origination and processing), where she joined in 2006 as Chief Executive Officer and President and was named Chairman in 2007. Ms. Woertz retired as Chief Executive Officer of ADM in 2015 and as Chairman in 2016. Prior to joining ADM, Ms. Woertz was with Chevron Corp. for 29 years, serving in several executive roles, including President, Chevron International and Executive Vice President, Global Downstream. She began her career as a certified public accountant with Ernst & Ernst. Ms. Woertz is currently a senior advisor to Tanium, a cybersecurity and network operations company, and is a member of the Board of Directors of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare. She previously served as a member of the President’s Export Council, the principal national advisory committee on international trade. With broad executive experienc Patricia A. She was named CEO and president in April 2006, and assumed the additional role of chairman of the board in February 2007.
